Kun Kaikki On Mahdollista || Lapsikuvaus

Kun katson ikkunasta ulos, näen tuulessa heiluvat männynlatvat, sinisen taivaan, muutaman hattarapilven ja paljon aurinkoa. Kesä taitaa viimeinkin olla täällä. Aamuisin tuoksuukin jo kesältä. Kostealta, raikkaalta. Öisin voi pitää ikkunaa auki ja kuunnella, kuinka sade ropisee peltisiä ikkunalautoja vasten. Joskus lähimetsästä kuuluu kuinka käki kukkuu. Suomen kesä on lyhyt, joten siitä pitää nauttia täysillä. Jopa siitä sateesta.

Sama pätee elämään. Se on niin lyhyt, että se pitää elää täysillä.

Perjantait ovat saaneet todellisen merkityksen sen jälkeen, kun päätin hypätä osittain oravanpyörästä marraskuussa ja jäädä kotiin toteuttamaan itseäni. Äiti usein huokailee vastaustani, kun kyselee perjantain suunnitelmia. Kun perjantaisinkin teen töitä, enkä pääse rentoutumaan. ”Ehkä vähän kirjanpitoa, kuvien editointia, nettisivun suunnittelua, paperihommia. Sitä sun tätä. Ehkä käyn lenkilläkin jossain välissä. Tai salilla.” Vastaan aina äidille, että kun ei se tunnu samalla tavalla työn teolta. Olen vapaa räätälöimään oman aikatauluni, enkä ole kahlittuna pöydän ääreen meluisassa toimistossa 8 tunnin ajaksi. On vain me, myself and I (sekä yksi kissa, joka taitaa olla hellyydenkipeä potenssiin sata perjantaisin). On tilaa ajatella ja hengittää. Antaa luovuuden kukkia. Maailma tuntuu perjantaisin avoimelta, kaikki on mahdollista.

Jos ikinä olet miettinyt heittäytymistä, sanon, että tee se. Vaikka sitten vain pienin askelin. Aloita vaikka poimimalla käpy maasta ja ajattelemalla, että se on maailman ihanin juttu. Hymyile. Niin Silva teki tänään.

Ehkä meidän kaikkien kannattaisi opetella olemaan vähän enemmän lapsia. Palata siihen hetkeen, kun kaikki on mahdollista.

Good morning, readers. I woke up at 6.39 AM on a Saturday. The first sure sign of Spring! Might as well blog some :)

At the beginning of year 2011 we had a big contest. I chose a favorite photos from shoots we did in 2010 and people voted for their favorite images and the winning photo was from Eevu & Anssi’s wedding. Meaning that they won a photo shoot of their choice!

Last October we had the pleasure of photographing Eevu, Anssi, Lumi and Linnea, the newest addition to their lovely family.

This is probably one of my favorite shoots ever. Maybe it’s because I absolutely love working with them. Maybe it’s because this was one of those pivotal moments when I realized how I want to document children and families and people in general. :)

For me (and for us) documenting the lives of people is important. Photographing the little and big parts of their lives. The emotion. Feeling. Atmosphere. Details. And there is no better way to capture the true spirit of someone than capturing them in the safe of their own home and surroundings. Children playing, families just hanging out. Being who they are.

Because when you are who you are, you get an honest portrait. When you’re in a place you love, you stop pretending. May it be your home, may it be some other place you have a connection to.

One of my all time favorite set of photos from one (well, two :) ) of my favorite photographers, Nordica Photography is this one. Their “Document You” pretty much sums up everything I’ve had on my mind since we started thinking what our approach to photographing people is.

Just like my dear friend Nani said: “If you want to do things differently, then why are you doing them the way everyone else is doing?”

Last October in general was a pivotal point in my life. It feels good to find your own voice. And I’m going to listen to that voice :)

Elina & Philip aren’t just two anymore. There’s now Elina, Philip and Thomas. They came to Finland this past summer, and we spent a lovely day at the cottage.

It’s been a busy week filled with beautiful moments and awesome people.

Here are a few frames from last Sunday (contest winners‘ family shoot), yesterday (Maria & Jouni’s wedding at Ravintola Keilaranta) and today (Eini & Ville’s engagement/together/baby bump shoot).

As you can see, I have a lot of editing to do – so if you don’t see new posts for a moment, that’s the reason. October has been our busiest month this year :)

We had a pleasure of photographing Jouni’s niece’s naming party about a week ago. She’s such a sweetie :) It was a beautiful day with lots of children (including Jouni’s nephew, still unnamed little fella), one dog starved for affection and attention, DELICIOUS food and awesome moments with awesome people.

2010 Suosikit/Favorites, part I | Häävalokuvaaja Espoo

Olen käynyt näitä kuvia IKUISUUDEN läpi. Olen yleensä hirveän ankara itseäni kohtaan kun otan kuvia ja editoin niitä. Sen siitä saa, kun on perfektionisti ja itsensä pahin kriitikko. Kuvia katsellessani huomaan, että olen kasvanut ja kehittynyt. Luotan nykyään itseeni enemmän. Voin jopa sanoa, että tykkään kuvistani ja niissä on monen monta sellaista, joita rakastan. :) Se on ISO juttu.

Viime vuonna tapasin paljon ihania ihmisiä. Joistakin tuli enemmän kuin asiakkaita, ystäviä. Otin tuhansia kuvia. Vietin monta ihanaa hetkeä kuvaten onnellisia ja rakastuneita ihmisiä. Rämmin lumessa, sulin helteessä. Valvoin myöhään lukemattomina öinä editoiden kuvia, nukuin muutaman tunnin, menin töihin ja tulin takaisin kotiin aloittaakseni saman alusta. Mitään en silti vaihtaisi pois. Viime vuonna opin, että tätä minä haluan tehdä. Aina.

Kiitos. Kiitos teille, jotka uskoitte minuun ja luotitte minuun/meihin. Arvostan sitä enemmän kuin voitte uskoakaan.

Tässä siis satunnaisia valintoja vuoden 2010 suosikeistani. Ja koska halusin tehdä tästä itselleni näköjään vaikeampaa kuin vaikeaa, olen rajoittanut kuvat yhteen per asiakas.

I’ve been going through these photos FOREVER. I’m usually pretty hard on myself when I’m taking photos and editing them. That’s what you get by being a perfectionist and your own worst critic. When I’m watching these pictures I can see how I’ve grown and evolved as a photographer. I trust myself more nowadays. I can even say that I like my photos. And there’s so many that I love. It’s a HUGE thing.

Last year I met a lot of wonderful people. Some of them became more than clients, friends. I took thousands of photos. I spent many wonderful moments photographing happy people and people in love. I waded in snow, melted in hot weather. I stayed up late during countless of nights editing photos, slept only for couple of hours, got up and went to work, came back home just to start the whole thing from the beginning. I wouldn’t change a thing. Last year I learned that this is something I want to do. Always.

Thank you. Thank you who believed in me/us. I value it more than you can imagine.
